The 2027 Ophthalmology ST1 assessment is virtual and has two role plays with an actor, each up to 10 minutes with 5 minutes’ reading time: one consultation focusing on clinical knowledge and one on a difficult communication or ethical scenario. Your interview score is combined with your verified evidence-folder score for the final ranking. Virtual assessments for the 2027 intake are on 22 and 23 March 2027, after the MSRA (5–20 January) and the evidence portal (18 January to 2 February).
Extremely important — the evidence folder can count for up to half of your total score. Presenting clear, verifiable achievements in teaching, leadership, audits, and ophthalmology experience is essential. The Medset course shows you how to format and present evidence for maximum marks.
The latest cycle keeps a strong focus on commitment to ophthalmology, academic output, and leadership. For 2027 the main change is that shortlisting uses the MSRA score alone; your verified evidence-folder score still counts for half of the final total. Our course integrates all current Oriel guidance so your preparation matches the real marking scheme.
Yes, the MSRA decides who is shortlisted for evidence-folder review. It does not count in your final score, which is the evidence folder (50 points) plus the interview (50 points).
