About

Gastroenterology ST4 is fiercely competitive. The interview is a high-intensity, two-station viva where every point counts. To secure your first-choice job and preferred deanery, you need more than knowledge – you need structure, focus, and the ability to perform under pressure. In short, you must prepare for this interview with the same strategy you’d bring to an exam.

This course gives you everything you need to excel on interview day: clear frameworks for each station, step-by-step guidance from high-scoring trainees, and practical tools to refine your delivery. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to approach every scenario, communicate confidently, and stand out as a polished, well-prepared future Gastro registrar.

Every module mirrors the real Gastro ST4 interview – its structure, timing, and pressure – so your preparation feels focused and realistic. You’ll learn the skills that consistently separate high-scoring candidates at national selection, applying proven frameworks across clinical, management, and communication stations while targeting the domains that carry the most marks and make the biggest difference to your overall score.

FAQ

Gastroenterology ST4 recruitment is run through the national Physician Higher Specialty Training (PHST) process. Candidates are assessed at interview, ranked, and offers are then made through the national recruitment system.

It’s consistently competitive. In 2025 there were 383 applications for 104 posts, giving a competition ratio of 3.68:1 (this varies year to year and by round).

For Round 1 (2026 recruitment), Gastroenterology ST4 interviews are listed in the national window 23–27 March 2026. (Always double-check the latest schedule for updates.)

At present, PHST interviews are run online (typically via Qpercom Recruit), with any changes confirmed by the national recruitment team closer to interview time.
