FAQ

The IMT interview is part of the national recruitment process for entry into internal medicine training in the UK (and includes ACCS-Internal Medicine options). The process uses short-listing based on self-assessment for achievements, followed by interview stations that test clinical reasoning, handover skills, professionalism and suitability for the specialty.
Competition is steep and rising. In 2025 there were 8,841 applications for 1,678 posts — a competition ratio of 5.27 :1. In 2024 there were 6,273 applications for 1,698 posts (≈ 3.69 :1).

Start by understanding how the self-assessment and portfolio scoring determine interview shortlisting. Practise structured responses for clinical scenarios covering diagnosis, investigation, management and handover, using frameworks like STAR to stay concise and logical. Focus on clarity, professionalism and linking every achievement in your portfolio to your suitability for internal medicine.

The IMT interview includes two stations: one assessing your achievements, professionalism and suitability for IMT, and another focused on clinical reasoning and communication. Our course mirrors this exact format — guiding you through realistic case discussions, portfolio presentation and how to demonstrate leadership, audit and teaching experience confidently.
Yes. The online course includes instant-access modules, with the option to book a live mock interview. These mocks are led by high-ranking IMT trainees and include personalised feedback on performance, structure, timing, and delivery.
